Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in web development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gil Zhaiek, CEO of ProcessUs Solutions Inc., located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We built SalesFronts - a user-friendly website editor that simplifies selling services and booking meetings. SalesFronts has many built-in themes that can be swapped with a click. Our customers are all professionals and service providers.

  • Job seekers can showcase their experience and book interviews.
  • A landscaper can sell their home design service.
  • An online tutor can sell their meetings online.
  • And many more.

The fact is that there was no simple way to create your own website and offer your services. We made that happen.

Tell us about yourself

ProcessUs Solutions co-founder Eugene Kesselman and I have talked for years about starting something together. During COVID-19, we have realized that the vision of the internet still hasn't happened. The fact is that no one around us has a website. People have Facebook and LinkedIn, but these platforms make money by making us addicted to their platforms so we can spend more time viewing ads. Their goal is not to make scalable human-2-human transactions. We wanted to build something for our friends and family and share it with the world. This is also what motivates me - the potential of our platform. We want to empower people and not exploit them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We build our product super-lean. We have decided to bootstrap the company because we could build it very lean. I am an experienced programmer, and one of my jobs is to make sure the route is clear for our developers.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Working with a time bomb on your head. We have limited resources and limited time. If we don't get to our goal of an MVP that has value in time, we lose everything. That acts as both the carrot and stick.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know yourself first - your limitations and strengths.
  2. Imagine what would make you happy.
  3. Work for that goal, and as long as you really know yourself and work within your limits, do what makes you happy.
