What's your business, and who are your customers?
PRESS Modern Massage offers clinical massage therapy in a warm, relaxing setting. Our clients are busy professionals in NYC who seek out our pain management services to keep them performing at their best.
Tell us about yourself
I grew up suffering from scoliosis (a curvature of the spine), and I deeply understand chronic back pain. I started PRESS to be a healing space for my community. We love being the best part of our client's day and helping people feel so much better.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment was surviving the COVID pandemic with my team intact. While we lost half our business locations, we were able to grow into two new locations in Manhattan, and no one lost a job. I feel really proud that I kept going, even though it was so scary and difficult.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Leading a company of people can be challenging, but I find that with the philosophy of "Servant Leadership," it has gotten a lot easier. Servant leadership means that each person in management comes from a place of making sure that everyone they lead has everything they need to succeed and thrive at their job.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask for Help: don't go it alone. Find mentors, coaches, consultants, or other business owners who can advise you.
- Learn to Delegate: the skill of delegation is absolutely necessary to master if you want to succeed and scale
- Don't skimp on Processes. Creating automated and effective processes makes everything run smoother.
