Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in catering, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sarah Locke, the founder of Yorkshire Pudding Inc, a premier catering company, in Toronto, Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

We are one of Toronto's premier boutique caterers, specializing in private and corporate events for over 25 years. We provide elegant yet approachable foods and pair them with exceptional service.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?

We simply LOVE food. We love the gatherings that happen around food, the traditions surrounding mealtimes and the amazing memories these occasions create.

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Becoming one of BlogTOs top 10 caterers in the city. And of course, making thousands of clients happy with our foods and service

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

Finding and keeping good staff. Our industry's worker are notoriously transient so when you find a good worker you have to make sure to keep them.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

1. Make sure it's a passion. You need to get up every day and be inspired to come to work (or at least, not loathing it!).

2. Do the tasks you do best/enjoy and outsource the skills you cannot or do not enjoy.

3. Make sure to keep a work/life balance. Owning your own company can be all-consuming at times and making sure you have time to recharge and connect with friends and family will make getting through the tough times much easier!
