What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business, Prairie AquaTech, makes a fermented plant protein ingredient with enhanced nutritional attributes. This ingredient, ME-PRO, provides high-quality nutrition solutions to the global aquaculture and terrestrial livestock industries and does it in a way that is sustainably produced and better for the quality of life on the planet.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been motivated to work in the industry that provides powerful solutions to the companies that make products to enhance the nutrition, health, and wellness of consumers.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Working with highly motivating colleagues, I've been able to successfully discover, develop, and commercialize products that have been positively impactful to consumers' health and wellness around the world.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

I find that having to make tough choices about what to pursue and what to ignore is very hard. One never knows what will eventually work and what will fail, and choosing one path over another in one's career can be very difficult.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find what you are passionate about doing that can also serve the needs of the planet and those that live on it.
  2. Identify the products and services that are trying to meet the unmet needs of consumers or those that serve them.
  3. Find and make connections with others that can work with you to create unique and superior solutions to address those unmet needs in much better ways. Pursue bringing those solutions to those that need them throughout the length of your career.
