Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Leann Wolff, Founder of Power of Self, located in Wembley, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help aspiring and stuck entrepreneurs break free of the certification wheel they are on so they can visualize, create, align and receive the wealth they are designed for by offering products and services that honor themselves and those they serve.

Tell us about yourself

I worked in Corporate Canada as a Finance Manager for 10 years. I loved my career, and the stress was becoming overwhelming. As a middle manager, the pressure from above to perform and keep the employees productive is an interesting space to be in. As I was driving to work one day, a heat began to move from my belly, which moved up through my chest and into my neck and head. I blacked out for about 2-3 seconds. I am driving a pick-up truck down a highway at speeds of 120 km/hr. And the only thought I had was, "I don't have time to be sick!" This was the day I knew it was time to leave a very high-paying role for something different.

I gave my three weeks' notice and allowed myself some space to decompress and reconnect with my deeper purpose. I took a year to be on my cattle ranch, allowing a new way of life to emerge. I felt the pull to get back into the business world. And I typed into my computer 'new age business,' and the Human Design System popped up. I knew that this was my new path, and I spent the next 10 years learning, experimenting, assisting clients, and growing a profitable business.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been the thousands of people I have assisted using the tool Human Design. I love the conversations and the aha moments that light up the energy of my clients, who then go out into the world and create magic for themselves.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The most challenging is keeping up with the marketing and coaching clients. As marketing is not my passion, this space creates the most tension in my business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have a vision. Every material item on this Earth Plane began as a blueprint. Your Human Design is Your Blueprint, and your Business also needs a Blueprint. That blueprint will grow or change as you gain more knowledge, which is perfect.
  2. Create Your Solutions. There is an entire group of people; we call this your fractal line in Human Design terminology, who are waiting for your solution. There may be 10,000 people offering the same solution, but it is your solution that your people are waiting for. These solutions are found in your design, and the marketplace tells you what they want, and most importantly, you are here to deliver what they need.
  3. Learn to trust what is true for you and start making decisions that enhance your life so you can go out into the world and enhance others. At the Core of Human Design, the fundamental tool is to learn your unique decision-making strategy to nourish your energy field and use your innate skills and talents to help others. In turn, this self-honouring is the most profound place to attract wealth and well-being.
