Tell us about yourself

Poor Little Rich Girl Cupcakes and Cake was birthed 11 years ago, combining my love for art, fashion, and baking. I find inspiration in the most unconventional things, such as a rose bush or a design on a blouse.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I went from baking for family and friends as gifts to being featured as one of the Buy Black Business on Radio One, tripling my revenue.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balancing my home and work life while staying focused, coming up with new and creative ways to stay ahead of the game.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find your passion and nurture it as if it was a newborn baby.
  2. Quality over Quantity.
  3. Keep going even when you want to give up. Readjust but never give up.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It may be 100 people doing what you do, but no one is you!
