Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jessica Taylor, director of Pleasant Hypnosis, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Pleasant Hypnosis teaches people how to use hypnosis to start living the life they want. Our clients are looking to make changes in their life, whether it's weight loss, quitting smoking, managing stress, getting over a fear, or finally getting unstuck.

Tell us about yourself

I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential, and I firmly believe that when you change one part of a system, the other parts start to shift too. I have personally experienced the power of hypnosis and have gained more self-confidence and calm in my life, proving to myself that I am able to do more than I ever imagined. These same tools gained from learning and practicing hypnosis allow my clients to create real change in their health and well-being, relationships, self-esteem, work, and daily life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Every day I get to work with my clients feels like an accomplishment. I still wake up each morning amazed that I get to help so many people discover what is possible for them. Part of the hypnosis process is sharing your success, and it is so rewarding to read and hear client testimonials talking about how much happier, healthier, freer, and more confident they feel. Stop smoking clients enjoy breathing easier, playing with their kids, and taking back control of their lives. Weight loss clients love how their clothes fit, the compliments they get, and having more energy. When my clients win, I win too!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Accepting that you can't give your all to everything all the time. As a business owner, you have to decide where spending your time will be most valuable. For me, my clients are my number one priority. If that means letting other things go, that has to be ok.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My top tips would be:

  1. You have to believe in yourself. Be your number one fan. No one else is going to do it for you.
  2. Make it about the people. Investing in your clients is an investment in your business.
  3. See the big picture! Zoom out, and it becomes easy to see what is really important.
