What's your business, and who are your customers?
Plant Mother is a clean skincare company specializing in 100% vegan, organic products. The entire line is designed to be actual skin food, created from fresh plants high in nutrients and have strong anti-aging benefits. Plant Mother makes all of its serums by hand, assuring the freshest, highest-quality serums possible. In a way that other companies can't, this allows the company to "own" the freshness and quality of the products. It's what makes Plant Mother clean, green, and more environmentally conscious than competitors.
Plant Mother is on a mission to detoxify beauty and provide the highest-quality skincare to health-conscious women. And it does so in an environmentally friendly way. We’re beyond clean and green. Our best-selling Vitamin C and Retinol serums are chemical-free and rich in natural botanical nutrients, antioxidants, and multivitamins.
We don't outsource anything, and we're glad to say that everything we produce is entirely created in the United States. The company is completely committed to lowering its environmental impact, including carbon emissions, water conservation, and waste reduction.
Tell us about yourself
I had a personal health crisis a few years back. It caused me to pause and evaluate all the harmful toxins I was exposed to. While dealing with the health scare, I took urgent action to improve my health by cleaning up my diet, lifestyle, and beauty routine. I began looking for completely healthy skincare made entirely of natural ingredients and organic materials. Brands with 60-65 percent organic composition were the best I could find on the market.
That's when I decided to create a clean skincare brand that is 100% organic, safe, nutritional, and healthy. A real skin food with high-quality ingredients. I wanted to make the best product for myself, and it needed to have the cleanest, freshest products that’d boost my skin as much as my overall health. That’s how Plant Mother was born.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
The best aspect of my job is knowing that we're creating products that improve people's health and the planet's health. We're proud to use 100% recycled biodegradable packaging with no plastic and limit our carbon footprint to the absolute minimum. We’re also zero waste.
I feel compelled to keep crafting the healthiest and greenest skincare since the products we make are so well received. When people compliment me for Plant Mother’s serums and comment on how healthy and glowing their skin looks like, it makes me very happy.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
When you look closely at the beauty industry, you'll notice that it's never been more crowded, and it's exceedingly difficult for new brands to succeed. However, you will stand out if you lead with quality and genuine concern for people's health. Plant Mother prioritizes product quality, consumer health, and environmental stewardship. That's how you win customers and stand out in the saturated market.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Be passionate about what you do, have a clear vision, and put in a lot of hard work. Always have a meaningful purpose. That is the fourth and probably the most important tip. You're not doing it right if the only purpose of your company is to make a profit. If that’s the case, you're yet another company. You've got it right if your business makes the world a better place while also generating profit.
