What's your business, and who are your customers?
PitchNinjas is an on-demand and digital communication coaching platform using 1:1 coaching, video recording software, and a personalised dashboard designed to help professionals improve their communication skills.
Tell us about yourself
I was often held back early in my career because of the way I communicated and found it hard to get help. I probably missed out on numerous career opportunities as a result and had to learn the hard way by putting myself out there.
Employers rarely give their employees the type of communication support they need. They are either sent to a workshop, told to figure it out on their own, or if they're lucky enough to be in a senior role, they are offered an executive communication coach, which is expensive and non-scalable. Seeing the massive need to close this gap, my co-founder Joanna Mollo and I founded PitchNinjas.
We are on a serious mission to help people master their communication to nail the moments that matter, and we strongly believe no one should miss out on any opportunities because of the way they communicate. Anyone, no matter job, role, or title, should be able to get the help they need when they need it, quickly, easily, and affordably.
I have over 20 years of experience in People Development, working for Google's People Operations team, startups, and scale-ups. I'm a certified Leadership Coach, a Learning and Development Professional, Angel Investor, and Startup Advisor. For the past 6 years, I have been coaching founders and startups on their people strategy and pitch delivery and hundreds of professionals during pivotal career/life moments.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
How we've been helping clients get a job, a promotion, ask for a raise, find their voice, speak at a conference, get funding and become more confident has been my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Maintaining balance from a health and well-being perspective. My whole life, I've been dedicated to being in a corporate role and suddenly jumping to entrepreneurship was hard at the start. A year in, and I'm slowly learning when to let go and recharge, not to take things personally and celebrate the journey. I have to admit I still have to learn to switch off and enjoy the moment, and I haven't managed this quite yet!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Map out your network and see who you can contact to get help and ask for advice, and don't be afraid to do this. The worst someone can say is no or not right now. They may ask you to reach out in a couple of weeks' time or point you in the direction of someone else. A door may close, but another one is sure to open. Leverage the power of the network.
