What's your business, and who are your customers?
I am a Hair and makeup artist. I am the founder and owner of The Pink Ladies of Texas. We cater services for Any events such as Weddings, quinceaneras, proms, or a girls' night out.
Tell us about yourself
I am first a mother, a wife, and 2nd a business owner. It's always hard to talk about yourself without sounding too extra, lol. But I can honestly say that doing what I love to do has not only given me the opportunity to enhance one's beauty but has helped me to be a better person mentally and physically. I first started doing makeup after having my daughter; I went through post-partum depression, which was something I never thought would happen to me. Having realized that I was dealing with depression helped me seek my own comfort. I felt comfort in taking care of myself deeply; I began exploring the world of makeup. Makeup was something I was new to, as I never really wore it much, but being able to use it as a form of therapy was the best way to cope with my depression. I never really thought I would be doing makeup on other people other than myself, but when my clients see themselves, their reactions make me feel good and happy.
I've been through so much in life, but god and family are what keep me strong and motivated to keep pushing through any obstacles in life. I'm always thankful for the support system I have, but I also thank god for all that he does and blesses me with.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Since I quit my job, my business has grown so much. I first started with being just myself; now, I have a bridal team. I feel like the greatest accomplishment comes from being surrounded by the right people who see your vision of growth.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
I can honestly say being a business owner does have its up and downs, but one that gets me every once in a while is making time for myself. There are times when I just randomly say ok; I'm not working. I need some alone time to get pampered.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
When starting a new business, always have a plan first. Jumping into something without a plan can either be good or bad. Know what's in, such as trends, is your product a necessity or a want. Look into the profit or outcome you want to accomplish.
