Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Helene Blanchette, President of Physicians CBD Council, located in Irvine, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

The council includes specialists in the field of family medicine, internal medicine, rheumatology, pain management, endocrinology, psychiatry, nephrology, and more.

Our mission is to focus on the following:

  • Promoting consumer safety through our product evaluation.
  • Educating on both the risks and health benefits of cannabis based on current published data and collaborating on clinical research.
  • Collaborating with and supporting organizations with similar values.

Our customers are product brands who wish to have their products evaluated to be awarded the Quality Verified Seal and Consumers for education and awareness programs.

Tell us about yourself

After being a global Vice President for several years in large corporations, I decided to step down to invest my time in owning my own business. I joined the council as a co-owner with Dr. Dung Trinh, and what motivates me is to see the vision and plan I created be executed and working. I am the President of the company and lead on all front development of it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

To have succeeded in building a business with nothing (financial support) to start and build every single aspect of it on time, according to a scheduled plan that was done at the start of the business idea.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Bootstrapping everything at first, working hard with little rewards and no pay, at first, having to rely on yourself to continue in difficult periods, and remaining strategic while taking care of the mundane things on a daily basis.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Take the time to plan in detail the first 120 days, and have a strong grip on what you will do over the next 3 years to get your vision achievement; follow the plan and do not get distracted by all that glitters on your path. Only alter your plan when something is bigger than what your own opportunity plan is, and in doubt, form a think tank of friends and colleagues to help you reflect soundly.
