Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danijela Kovac, founder of Teetotaler Wines Inc., located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Hello! Canadian company Teetotaler Wines Inc. are a line of nonalcoholic wines made and imported from Spain!

Tell us about yourself

Well, I’ve been sober for over 11 years now, and for most of those years, I didn’t have anything good to drink! The dining experience, on a whole, got pretty boring! The first time I experienced nonalcoholic, it was a game-changer for me. I finally had an adult beverage that paired perfectly with my favourite dishes!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

All of it! It’s just been me this whole time. I am everything that makes up Teetotaler Wines, from label creation to packing wines! Lol...

Every aspect of my business is something to be so proud of. Also, I was proud to discover the Teetotaler Wines Sparkling Rose was used in one of the new Sex and the City episodes!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Not knowing! I really don’t know what I’m doing over here, so there are definitely moments of feeling overwhelmed! I will say one thing I have learned is that I usually figure it out just in time!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Just do it! Start small and just do it step by step, and don’t give up! If you are truly passionate about it, it will be successful. Just be patient.
