Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tim Perreira, Founder of PER Wellness, located in San Diego, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

PER is a wellness community built for men. We focus on providing men with the coaching + community needed to improve their mental & physical health to live happy and healthy lives.

Tell us about yourself

I started PER Wellness to help men overcome the stigmas that have prevented us from living our best lives for far too long. After 4 years of depression, health challenges, and then losing my job, I knew I had to change how I lived my life. I shared my story for the first time in early 2021 and had hundreds of men reaching out, expressing similar challenges. From that point on, I knew we had to build something to help men. We created sustainable gym shorts for men in 2020 and transitioned to a men's community + coaching at the turn of 2022 to be more in line with our MISSION: Help men live a happy and healthy life.

Starting PER has completely changed my life and allowed me to meet INCREDIBLE like-minded men who also believe there's more to life than chasing career success. Thank you so much for supporting and being a part of this amazing journey. I'm insanely excited to see where this thing goes!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Getting DMs from men saying how much I've helped them with their mental health. I had one client tell me for the first time in 10 years he finally believed he COULD change. That was pretty unreal for me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

It's lonely. It's hard to find people who truly know what you're going through. That, and the fact we're all just winging it. I am still figuring it out each and every day. But I'm lucky to have built such an incredible community of support to help me through it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Learn to think, "what problem needs solving" vs. "how can I make money."
  2. Start building your personal brand ASAP. The platform doesn't matter so much as you START building an audience based on providing value & trust.
  3. Just get started. No idea will be perfect, and you'll always find excuses to delay a launch or put off starting. You just have to do it. Take the leap. You'll learn on the way down. It'll be the most rewarding thing you've ever done.
