Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emily Moore, owner of Peacebank Yoga, located in Redwood City, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
Peacebank Yoga is a studio where people come to flow, stretch, relax, and connect. Our customers are local neighbors looking to improve their health in body, mind, and heart.
Tell us about yourself
I started personally practicing yoga to rehab a chronic knee problem and fell in love with the mental release, the creative expression, and the wonders of the body and mind connection. As a mother of two young kids, our studio is my sanctuary, and as a local in the community, our studio is my intentional community.
Every day I am motivated by the healing power of the body through mobility, flexibility, and strength and the power of being a part of an intentional community.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Showing our flexibility through COVID, natural disasters, yoga virtually, outside in the park, and all the while, the strength of our community holding us together.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Never being off the clock, there is always something that can be done. But thank goodness yoga helps with that!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Set boundaries for your work time on/off.
- Say yes to anyone willing to help.
- Surround yourself with people that continue to inspire you.
