Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Paula Morand, Founder of Paula Morand Enterprises, located in London, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

A consulting firm and publishing house specializing in working with knowledge experts to build their brand.

Tell us about yourself

I started my first company in my 20's and sold it when I was 30. After much recognition and awards, I was able to leverage that first experience into building numerous companies and taking risks to constantly evolve and increase my knowledge.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

There are many. Being asked to speak about my entrepreneurial journey has opened many doors and created an opportunity to be a professional speaker for the last 24 years. This has allowed me to travel to over 38 countries and speak to thousands of organizations and conferences on how to have the courage to dream big and be bold.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Fear is like a sly fox. As a business owner, I believe you must continually be humbled enough to ask for help when needed but confident enough to recognize your own self-worth and understand that courage is the great equalizer. The only way to get to success is to go through the unknown.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Number one - You can do hard things. You absolutely can.

Number two - Don't waste your emotions on assumptions or expectations. Always get the facts and know there is always a solution to be found.

Number three - Being a resource to others and knowing your community is absolutely key to growing your own vision. Together is better. Communicating and making people feel valued and heard is the key to building long-term business and results. I don't run a transactional business. I run a relational business, meaning I know I would rather constantly have return business and referrals over thirty years than a one-off buy anytime.
