What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a licensed acupuncturist and the owner of Above & Beyond Acupuncture, which was established in October 2013. My specialty is treating anxiety, stress, and depression, but I'll also treat whatever walks into the door. At my clinic, I offer Acupuncture, cupping, lifestyle coaching, and nutritional guidance.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being able to help people feel better in mind, body, and spirit. It's truly an honor and joy to see patients walk into my clinic suffering and leave experiencing relief.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

There are so many details that need to be tended to in the beginning that it can get overwhelming. The first three years in business were the hardest, and there were so many lessons that came up. After being in business for five years, I felt more comfortable and understood what it took to keep things going. At this point, the clinic has established itself, and I feel confident it will be here in Scottsdale for the remainder of my career as an acupuncturist.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be ready to fully commit, do not have an escape plan.
  2. Be prepared to experience the true peaks and valleys of business that will flux all throughout the year.
  3. Always go above and beyond for every person you treat.
