Tell us about yourself

Who is Pashyra? Well, as an entrepreneur, I am a lot of things. I am the owner and operator of Pashyra -The Beaute Studio. I am also a janitor, web designer, accountant, marketing director, scheduler, and visionary. I've always loved the beauty industry and started dabbling in brow tinting back in 2014. It wasn't until I made the decision to get permanent brows in 2017 myself that I knew it was also something that I wanted to learn how to do as well. It may sound cliche, but my clients motivate me. I often tell people that I've always been late to every job that I've ever had, I was even fired from a few, but I've never been late since I began working for myself. I show up to the studio early. I love what I do; sometimes, clients cry after they see their brows. The hugs at the end are so genuine, I love my clients, and they love me too.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've been in business for almost four years, but my biggest accomplishment thus far has been moving out of my home and into my new location. I've now been in my new studio for a full year, welcoming clients from all over the Tri-state. My studio is beautiful, I have a comfy lobby/waiting area, and the service room has an Instagramable wall that my clients love.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Balance! Where is it, and how do you find it. Trying to wear and manage many hats and finding time for your personal life is difficult, but it can be done.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do what you want and love; sometimes, people start businesses because they see how much money someone else is making, or they are trying to make someone else happy. Start the business for you!
  2. Running a business is not easy, don't feel like you have to know all the answers. Ask questions, become a sponge, and seek a mentor.
  3. Even when you don't see growth keep going because it's happening every day, people see you on social media, and clients are discussing you with their friends and family. Keep pushing and promoting your business. Always remember that follower count does not equate to dollars. Followers are nice, but as business owners, we prefer the dollar.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Believe in yourself, even when no one else will. Sometimes other people won't see your vision, but that's okay; just keep going. Lastly, invest in yourself; it takes money to make money. Invest and continue educating yourself. Stay up to date on the latest trends, techniques, and products in your field.
