Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in logistics but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tucker Lemm, Founder & Director of Partnerships of ParcelPath LLC, located in Lake Oswego, OR, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is, and we are a freemium Saas for individuals and small businesses in the US who want to save money when it comes to shipping small parcels and LTL.

Tell us about yourself

I started in medical transport with a company I founded that delivered medical devices and trays to sterile processing and OR at hospitals—I realized there was a massive discrepancy between what large companies paid for shipping and what small businesses and individuals were paying. Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, and helping them succeed is my sole focus with ParcelPath.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is successfully negotiating a partnership with UPS to work with small businesses and partnering with the most significant marketing agency for SMBs in the US. We currently work with over 11,000 small businesses in the United States.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The number of hats that you have to wear to ensure your idea gets off the ground while at the same time making sure you always have enough money in the bank. You have to be able to thrive while under a lot of stress.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Count the cost and evaluate the idea past the point of excitement.
  2. Have someone on your team that is good with numbers.
  3. It is never going to be easy, and you have to be able to handle bigger and bigger problems with drastic outcomes in both directions.
