Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Michael Paquette, Founder of Paquette Massage and Wellness LLC, located in Exton, PA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I provide corrective, therapeutic massage, cold laser therapy, sound healing, meditation, and transformational coaching to people looking to make a positive change through natural and simple methods.

Tell us about yourself

Drawing from my own experience of being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease and injuring my low back, natural treatments and lifestyle changes have been able to bring my life and health under control. I want to help others experience amazing results. Too many people go through life in pain of some sort that may be able to be improved or even corrected through safe, effective, and natural means. I am here to facilitate that for as many people as I can.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would have to say my biggest accomplishment as a business owner would have to be building a community around those I serve. My clients are very passionate about the work I do, and they spread the word far and wide.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Weathering the challenges of a dynamic (and recently tumultuous) environment is one of the hardest things I have seen as a business owner. Between COVID lockdowns, inflation, and anything else that comes your way, you have to stay on your toes and remain relevant to your current and potential clients.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be clear on why you do what you do and make it something you are passionate about. It is so much easier when you are having a tough time of it when you really love what you do, and it attracts more business since your excitement is contagious.
  2. Be clear on specifically who your ideal client is. Who do you serve and why? If you know that and can clearly communicate it, you are more likely to attract those who most appreciate what you do and who you will enjoy working with.
  3. Set aside a rainy day fund from the beginning... you never know when you may have a lull in business that you can't control.
