Tell us about yourself
Hi Beautiful Soul, I'm Lee. Forever yoga student and teacher. I have been practicing yoga since I was 20 years old. I started yoga after quitting as a professional contemporary dancer. I was lost, depressed, and gained so much weight; then, Yoga healed me in many ways. Injuries from dancing got healed from yoga asana practice; I became more aware of my feelings and habits of my thoughts from yoga. I moved to Canada when I was 29 and became a certified yoga teacher to finally share my practice with many beautiful souls.
In 2016 I started teaching yoga at a big gym where nearly 100 students joined my classes, many of which became like a family. I opened up a small home yoga studio in 2018 and helped with one-on-one yoga, small group yoga, and offered yoga workshops.
In 2019, the Pandemic came into our lives. We were locked down. Everything closed. I had to find a way to connect with my students and continue our practice together. None of my students, including myself, were familiar with "Online Yoga" at that time. We had to give it a try. I have to say, it didn't work for everyone, but so many of my students had benefited from "Home Yoga," and thankfully, they are still doing yoga with me from wherever they are now.
Online toga has been with us, it is now, and it still will be even more. We all need to learn to build healthy habits like practicing yoga from home. Take as little as 5 minutes for deep breathing work; mindful movements help our body, mind, and spirit to become more harmonized. My life's purpose is to serve others' health and wellness through yoga and to see my students progress from yoga.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Pagoda Yoga Community. A group of people who bring and practice love, peace, and positive vibes to the community is the biggest accomplishment of a business owner. The world will be a better place if we all share love, peace, and harmony.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Finding a balanced life as a business owner and mom is one of the hardest things. I'm a mother of 2 kids, 2 puppies, and 2 guinea pigs. Waking up early to have a moment for self-care and love is crucial to be a business owner.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Don't wait until you are ready; if so, you will never be ready.
- Let go of the "Perfect" mentality.
- Make sure to take good care of yourself, whatever you do and wherever you go.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
