Tell us about yourself

I started out as a makeup artist in the film industry, specializing in SFX. This is what gave me my extensive training in skin tones, textures, and providing services creating natural makeup looks. After working in SFX for five years, I began to learn more about beauty makeup and realized I had a passion for beautiful natural makeup. I spent another seven years working in film, TV, and commercials, where I harnessed my natural makeup techniques, tirelessly tested products, and started learning more about skin. As a person who doesn't wear makeup and doesn't like how it looks on my skin, I knew there had to be others out there like me. I started doing bridal almost on happenstance and quickly learned that my skill set was a breath of fresh air to brides. I loved that I was able to give my clients a fresh look that made them feel so beautiful and so much like themselves. From there, I spent each year finding ways that I could elevate my service and offer my brides an incredible customized experience. Spending the morning with my bride, her family, and friends and helping facilitate an incredible and lasting experience for everyone is what drives me each morning and every wedding season.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

As a business owner, my greatest accomplishment is watching the hard work that I spent churning a passion into a successful career come to fruition. Watching my business grow and feel proud knowing that I was able to create such a unique and wonderful experience for so many people. Seeing clients' faces light up once their service is complete is my biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner is balance. Trying to set boundaries with yourself so you can self-care and put yourself first is incredibly difficult. It took years to learn to manage and to put the phone down, not take a booking that day and wait a few more hours before answering that email.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Give yourself time, be patient and kind to yourself.
  2. Make a plan and create solid steps to obtain your goal.
  3. Always strive to elevate everything you are doing; put in 100% now so that you don't have to play catch up later. Have strong ethics and never stop learning.
