Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Teri Mathis, President of Oxygen Orchard, Inc., located in Wharton, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We manufacture and market The Big Pitcher, a wellness appliance that infuses oxygen into your drinking water. Our customers want to achieve better health through healthy hydration.

Tell us about yourself

During the 1990s and 2000s, I had a company that treated industrial wastewater. We reduced organics like petroleum products by using oxygen and microbes.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

We brought the molds for our custom parts from China to the United States, ensuring that our product is truly Made in the USA!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In our business, it's inventory management. There are over 20 parts that go into making The Big Pitcher, and maintaining the inventory is a challenge.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be somewhat fluent in accounting.
  2. Learn to prioritize what's urgent.
  3. Have fun.
