What's your business, and who are your customers?
OxfordGang is a record label and multimedia company. As an independent, we offer writing, sound recording, engineering, and directing and recording music videos. As a multimedia service, we provide West Michigan and surrounding areas with videography, photography, and multimedia service.
Tell us about yourself
As a two-man team and members of the same family, it has always been important to us to stay true to who we are. We got started because we felt hip hop and black culture as a whole were missing an important sound and image that needed to be expressed. Something new but stylistically similar to the roots of the genre.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment so far has been shipping merchandise overseas! We personally have a sound that has begun to be recognized. Beyond that, we have been able to provide customers of our photo and video services with great work at a quick turnaround.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Finding new clients and remembering that things take time. A lot has gone into the business that may not be readily seen or understood by people who don't pursue the same endeavors. It is important to remember how much progress we have made.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- START YOUR BUSINESS! You may not know everything in the beginning, but if you procrastinate too long, you won't have ever begun.
- Make the business out of something you love. Start-up and maintenance can be tough, so working with something you honestly love and are passionate about can help get your business through tough times.
- Be consistent. Set realistic goals, dates, and schedules. Then, execute.
