What's your business, and who are your customers?

OWN IT is making a 5-star high-performance portfolio of services available to executives and entrepreneurs that, through an integrated approach, brings customized prescriptions for holistic health and longevity optimization. Think about it as a fully curated personalized testing and coaching service that integrates your medical team, inner and outer energy coaches to ensure we are enhancing each individual from the inside out.

Tell us about yourself

I have integrated my academic and experience together. I have a master's degree in sports performance and did my post-graduate studies in HRV, recovery, and sleep science. After a 15-year career-building-integrated performance model and coaching at the NCAA, AHL, and NHL levels, I began to ask the NHL team owners and business people in Anaheim and NYC the teams were working for at the time, if I could do the same thing for them. It shaped the idea in my mind that I needed to bring this to the public and not keep it locked behind the iron-clad walls of athletics.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The greatest accomplishment has been bringing the concept from a vision to reality while building a company with my wife that impacts the world in an extremely positive way. Seeing how our business has been able to fulfill the dreams of our team members. It is an outlet for them to use their skills and talents and live in their flame while providing a service that people have been searching for for years and never knew existed.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being able to keep the balance between work and family life has been something I have actively had to learn and get coached upon. My wife and I spend a lot of time together, so making sure that she feels loved as a spouse but also as a business partner is key.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Build something you are extremely passionate about. As a founder, you are a salesperson all the time. Selling your vision and mission to your team, leaders, and customers. Passion is infectious and authentic and will always shine through.
  2. Be sound in your core values. If you are solid in your core values, there are no hard decisions because they will decide for you.
  3. Show up to serve. You serve your teammates and employees. They will serve your clients. Always lead with service.
