Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Samantha Goldman, Founder of OT 4 ME, located in Boca Raton, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I help families bring the magic back into mealtime. More specifically, I teach parents of children with feeding challenges how to help their children explore new foods and increase their variety - the fun way!

Tell us about yourself

My background is an occupational and feeding therapist working in children's hospitals. I saw firsthand how many parents struggled to feed their children and felt lost because there weren't resources to help - especially if they weren't in an area that offered feeding therapy. So, I created the resource myself! The wins I hear from families are what keep me going every day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My absolute most significant accomplishments are every single time a parent has a win at the table. No success is too big or too small. But the best accomplishment is helping families connect again at the table.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The business side, lol! Being trained as an OT, it was a steep learning curve to understand the business' financial, marketing, and PR sides.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a good mentor - I wish I had done this sooner, so I would have had a better roadmap instead of just trying to figure it out alone.
  2. Keep going - starting a new business is HARD. And honestly, no one tells you just how hard. But it's also the most rewarding thing when you change someone's life for the better.
  3. Do it right the first time - trying and DIY everything is tempting. But honestly, that leads to much clean-up in the long run! Doing it right the first time will save you time and money.
