Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jordan Fallis, Founder of Optimal Living Dynamics, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Optimal Living Dynamics. We provide advanced information, cutting-edge tools, and premium products and programs so that people can heal their bodies and brain, reach a state of optimal mental health and performance, and discover their full potential. We're on a mission to transform the lives of more than 10 million people by 2040, and we believe our premium products and programs will be a powerful catalyst in making that happen.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a Brain Health Coach and Nutritional Consultant. I specialize in helping people with chronic illnesses increase their brainpower, restore their mental clarity, and reclaim their mental health. It's my mission to help people understand the simple steps they can take to create a massive transformation in their brain function and mental health. In 2014, after developing a passion for health and nutrition, I took pre-med science courses and completed most of my Master of Science in Human Nutrition. But I was eager to leave academia and start helping people. So I decided to put that degree on hold and launched Optimal Living Dynamics instead.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is that my research and writing have reached more than 3.5 million people worldwide. I've helped hundreds of clients improve their brain function and mental health.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Setting boundaries and finding and maintaining balance. It can be tempting to work all the time, especially when you are passionate about your business and your work. But it's essential to focus on other parts of your life and put energy into those other areas of life as well. Otherwise, you'll just end up being burnt out and not doing good work anyway.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't try to help and serve everyone. Focus on finding and helping a specific niche of people. You can't reach and help everyone in the world, and that's OK.
  2. Have a clear picture of your ideal customer or client, and have a good understanding of what they want and what they are trying to achieve in their life.
  3. If you see that something is working in your business (e.g., you're getting a lot of traffic and customers from one specific traffic source), put all of your focus and energy into that and cut out all other distractions.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Do what scares you. Fight through any fear and do it. If you're fearful of doing something, then that's typically a sign that you need to face it and just do it. Because once you face that fear and get through it, everything eventually becomes easier later. Fear often points you in the direction you really need to go.
