Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in online fitness, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anthony, the founder of Sweat Nation Fitness,  a fitness platform in Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

Sweat Nation brings fitness together – anytime, anywhere. With on demand workouts from award winning trainers, high-quality fitness equipment, healthy recipes, and an exclusive online community to make your full potential possible.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?

I've been building brands and leading businesses for over a decade with a focus on sports and fitness. From Nike, Adidas, Peloton and GoodLife down to smaller brands like BodyRock, Flow Water and more. My experience reaching different customer groups, working in the ever changing digital space, alongside talented athletes, trainers and influencers, presented an opportunity to do online fitness different and better.

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

Repeating success. It proves you understand what you're doing, that your approaches work, that consumers buy into it and that it wasn't a flash in the pan or just all luck. I've scaled my own agency/consultancy, grown various client brands, and now am doing it for my own start-up.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

Uncertainty is the one thing all business owners face. No matter their industry. You can plan everything out, seem like everything is lined up, approach it perfectly on paper, but always need to be ready and able to adapt. Constantly having answers for "what if everything goes wrong?" but also "what if everything goes right?"

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

1. Make it a passion, but don't let that cloud your judgement.

2. Build a REAL brand (inside and out) and validate it against your business model.

3. Be willing to redefine success and failure along the way.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Being a business owner is hard work but it's the most rewarding work there is. Remember to leave your ego at the door and surround yourself with talented people that share your vision.
