What's your business, and who are your customers?
My Name is Oliver, and I am a Landscape and Wildlife Photographer. I sell my pictures as prints, books, greeting cards, and calendars, and I sell them all over the world through my website.
Tell us about yourself
I have Down Syndrome, and I wanted to be a photographer like my father, and now I am better than he is! :) I like taking pictures, and I like being outside in Nature. I want to take good pictures for my fans so that they will want to buy them. I like it on Facebook when hundreds of people like my pictures and tell me I'm brilliant!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
I think I'm very proud that I'm a photographer and that people all over the world buy my pictures. I like seeing all the addresses when they order things, and they don't just live here in the UK; they live in America and Canada and Australia and Germany and all over the place. It makes me proud. When I was little they told my mum I wouldn't be able to do anything, but now I'm awesome, and I'm famous! Sometimes when we go on holiday or go out for the day, people come up to me and say, 'Are you Oliver the Photographer?!' That's cool!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
What are the hardest things that come with being a business owner? I don't do the hard things; I leave that to my mum!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
I say, 'Just get out there and do it,' and my mum says that's right because if you don't try - you'll never know!
