Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emeka Anyadiegwu, Managing Director of Obioma Fashion, located in Chicago, IL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a fashion business that mixes African fabrics with Western styles. My customers are men and women between the ages of 21 and 55. Our customers are interested in Africa and the diaspora.

Tell us about yourself

We are a family business, and we started in 2016. We started because we had an opportunity to get clothes made with connections to tailors and seamstresses. I am motivated by promoting the African culture in a positive way. When I showcase at fashion shows, then it is a great time to promote our culture and have people learn about it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is doing business with over 50 colleges/ Universities, including 6 out of 8 Ivy Leagues. Also making clothes for many dance teams. Our dance team also performed at an event too.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Getting customers to come on the site and social media pages. Getting sales and picking the right events to be a part of. Also, posting consistently and finding interns to work with us.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Find your passion and make it a business. Make sure you love what you are doing and believe in your business. Focus on acquiring customers and keeping them.
