Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Rev. S. Tucker, Founder of Oasis Center for Wellness, located in Englewood, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We oxygenate tissues by transdermal ozone delivered through steam in a steam sauna cabinet. Our customers range from people who want to detox their bodies, for instance, chemo patients, to Parkinson's patients whose symptoms can be managed using our HOCATT and HU=GO PEMF systems. We also have clients who just want to keep their tissues healthy. Oxygenated tissues are healthy tissues.

Tell us about yourself

I was in Florida to house-sit for someone. We decided to check out a local healer's festival, and I found information on ozone and cancer. I didn't have cancer, but I have a belly button hernia. At the end of the article, it talked about how ozone helps heal from surgeries. I checked it, and after nine sessions, I was a brand new woman. That was in April 2016. In August 2016, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and realized why I had been so sick. The Ozone Cabinet helped me feel better than I had for years. Looking for the same treatments here in Colorado, I realized no one here was offering transdermal ozone. So, I started the business. Having seen how Ozone therapy has helped so many of my clients the way it helped me, I am excited every day to go to work and continue helping people heal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have one client with Parkinson's who has been coming for four years. When she first came to us, her tremors were so bad her husband would not give her a full cup of coffee. After her 8th session, he handed her a full cup of coffee because her tremors were almost completely resolved. She wasn't sure it was the HOCATT that was responsible for her symptoms being gone. When we shut down for the pandemic, we were closed for more than three months, and her tremors returned. After six sessions, the tremors were almost gone. She still was not convinced it was the HOCATT until about one year later when she had surgery and could not come in for three months. Her tremors returned, and it took about six sessions before they resolved again. We cannot heal the part of her brain that does not make dopamine, but we can control her symptoms with regular use of the HOCATT and HU=GO PEMF system.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Going through October, November, and December, when clients are more focused on the holidays and less focused on their health. We have a very lean last quarter every year.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Be prepared to fund the business for at least 2-3 years while building the business. Most people get so excited at first, but when it doesn't get off the ground as quickly as they thought, they get very discouraged.
