Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in mental wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Torie Sullivan, Founder of NWA Premier Therapy, located in Rogers, AK, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

NWA Premier Therapy is a mental health clinic providing therapy and neurofeedback training to clients in our offices and through online modalities. Our clients are seeking to find improvement in their mood, self-confidence, and relationships. We work with children, adults, and families to increase emotional regulation, trauma recovery, and relationship improvement.

Tell us about yourself

I began seeking ways to improve myself and my emotional regulation after an auto accident at age 17. I was left with a physical disability as a quadriplegic. I had a fear of trusting myself to manage my life. I started counseling and eventually started my own journey toward owning a counseling practice. I am motivated every day by the opportunity to encourage others to trust themselves and improve their lives. I love working with a team of amazing staff and providing a service to increase positive engagement in our community. My own life experiences have greatly contributed to the beliefs I hold about an individual's capacity and power to feel better. I want this business to further encourage children and adults to feel cared for and supported in reaching their goals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I feel my biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been to win Best Mental Health Clinic of 2022. I have built a brand focused on providing excellent care to my community. Increasing my staff and providing training has assisted in growing the practice in exciting new ways. We recently added additional space and are ablate provide more care to those seeking a better life.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing about owning a business is staying hopeful while dealing with daily challenges. It can be challenging to manage all the moving parts while trusting in a long-term vision. The key for me has been to allow the process to unfold over time and not react to each small bump in the road.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My advice for others wanting to start a business is to trust your vision and keep going forward. Try not to take score too soon, things need to develop, and it's important to stay the course. Lastly, don't share your story with people who will shut you down, other people don't know what you can do, and often their advice will slow down your momentum to success.
