Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marianne Crooch, CEO of Nspired Living, located in Lorton, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Teaching and inspiring others to live a healthier, inspiring, happier, and purposeful life is my passion. Through the simplicity of changing daily habits, anyone can improve their health and life trajectory. Through yoga, meditation, mindfulness, proper nutrition, sleep, hydration, and a positive mindset and environment, I coach others to live their best life.

Tell us about yourself

For years I struggled with stress and constant health issues, including a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. I was always looking for ways to minimize my daily pain and reduce the stress which I knew was causing my health issues. That's when I found Yoga, and the rest is history. Over the years, I found yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and good daily habits provided that miracle.

That's what motivated me to become a certified yoga and meditation instructor, as well as a certified health coach. Helping people transform their lives is what motivates me every single morning.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Seeing my client's (and student's) mind and body health be transformed from a simple yoga or meditation class to losing weight or incorporating simple healthy habits.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being the sole employee of a business is juggling all aspects of the business and maintaining momentum. I'm the manager, marketer, coach, instructor, accountant, copywriter, audio and video creator, website designer, overall fixer, and therapist.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. One of the biggest tips I can give to starting a business is to have patience. When I started my business back in 2010, I was working a day job in IT. So the only time I had to work on it was in the evenings and weekends. I was very frustrated that my progress in building everything from scratch was moving so slowly. I didn't realize that those little baby steps I was making each week add up over time and that one day it would be operational and profitable. I spent way too much time stressed and frustrated instead of enjoying the process and journey.
  2. My second tip is to connect with like-minded people, whether it's through Facebook groups, business organizations, or pieces of training. It's amazing how much support you will get from others who are in the same boat, emotional, technical, and business support. But you have to put the effort forward.
  3. My third tip is consistency! Every day accomplishes at least one task or does one thing that brings you closer to your dream. It's like working out in the gym. If you go for a couple of weeks without hitting the gym, it's harder the next time you go, and you also can't lift as much or go as far as you did before you took that unscheduled break.
