What's your business, and who are your customers?

Novis Health Utah is a functional medicine health coaching clinic focused on helping people who suffer from chronic healthcare conditions such as diabetes, thyroid issues, gut health, and autoimmune disorders.

Tell us about yourself

I have been interested in the healthcare industry since high school. I obtained a master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Utah in 2015 and have been heavily involved in the healthcare industry ever since! I work as a healthcare data analyst for a non-profit and own several healthcare businesses, including two assisted living facilities and Novis Health. I love being able to make a difference in people's lives and helping them learn how to lead happier, healthier lives.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is helping people do what they love while helping those around them. I enjoy having a positive impact on those around me. Whether they are the people we help through our services or growing the capabilities of my staff, I love being able to help those around me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things I deal with as a business owner is ensuring we have sufficient staff to help those who need our services. Staffing is difficult, especially in a post-COVID world, but we do our best!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Get started! It may seem scary and daunting, but you can figure it out
somebody will always be there to help you!
  2. Be relentless! Be relentless in your pursuit of greatness, and you'll be successful! Just because one person or bank tells you no doesn't mean everybody else will tell you no.
  3. Do something you're passionate about! You can make money in many different ways; make sure you enjoy the work you're doing, and it's something you don't mind trading your time for.
