Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kathryn Fitzgerald, Owner of Nouveau Hippie Holistics, LLC., located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Well, I am a certified holistic nutritionist coach and yoga teacher. I help people live balanced lives by incorporating holistic practices, which include eating for optimal health. My focus is working with women who have busy lifestyles but need practical solutions to health and wellness.

Tell us about yourself

My own health and wellness journey inspired me to do what I am doing today. I was a burnt-out special education teacher who needed something different. I left education to teach yoga. Five years ago, I went plant-based/vegan, and I had to learn how to eat all over again. I wanted to make sure I was incorporating the right balance of nutrients so I wouldn't become deficient in anything. Last year, while working at a fat loss center here in Las Vegas, I was inspired to become a certified holistic nutritionist to help more people live happy, healthy, and vibrant lives. Seeing people make positive changes to their lives and feel healthy, and be able to do all the things they love, motivates me.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is my ability to start from scratch multiple times, which also included changing my business name, website, logo . . . everything, which I did all by myself. I'm very hands-on and am always willing to learn something new to help me with my business.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things about being a business owner is not following what everyone else is doing in the field. It's so easy to feel pressured into doing things that don't align with you and your service, but staying true to who I am is important to me.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Stay consistent - no matter what it is. Just keep at it. The right clients will come.
  2. If you're not into it- the product, the service, don't keep doing it- that will burn you out, and you'll become resentful.
  3. Stay inspired. Ground yourself daily and be grateful.
