Tell us about yourself
I am a customer loyalty expert with national brands like AT&T, where I was tapped to work on the American Express Plenti Loyalty project. During that time, I had difficulty finding information that was relevant to my family and me, on top of being bombarded with spam marketing attempts. I recognized a gap in the local marketing space. I decided to build a solution to make it easier for consumers to access relevant information more efficiently. Knowing this problem is shared by millions of consumers who are actively seeking for solutions keeps me motivated.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Cofounding the first accelerator for founders of color in the state of TN.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Raising capital from angel and venture capitalists.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Validate your problem before building a solution. Talk to as many of your target customers as possible. Get a mentor and advisor for each aspect of your business to help you make fewer risker decisions. Be willing to pivot when the market tells you it's time. Don't marry your solution.
