Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in the service industry but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anthony Rivera, owner of Northern Colorado Window Cleaning LLC, a top-tier window cleaning company located in Northglenn, Colorado.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We are a window cleaning company that offers a variety of other exterior cleaning services. Our services include Window Cleaning, Gutter Cleaning, Solar Panel Cleaning, Window Screen Replacement/ Repair, and Pressure Washing services. The majority of our work is residential, while we still do have some commercial projects. We enjoy working with homeowners, and we love taking care of their home cleaning projects! We know how much pride our homeowners have in their houses, so we are happy to clean and maintain the exterior of their homes.

Tell us about yourself

NoCo Window Cleaning was established in February of 2020. It was in 2019 that I had picked up window cleaning by working for a small family-owned window cleaning company in Seattle, Washington. With the skills I learned there, and with help from a mentor, I started NoCo Window Cleaning. I look forward to building this company into a top-tier service company. We look to create relationships with every client that we have to opportunity to clean. Every day I look to see who will be the next addition to the NoCo Window Cleaning family. The potential of what this company can be is what keeps me going every day!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has to be when I donated a total of $450.00 to Pancreatic Cancer Awareness. I put on a fundraiser by selling our day-to-day work shirts to friends and family. All the profits made from the shirts were donated on behalf of NoCo Window Cleaning. This is so important to me because this has always been a goal and dream of mine to donate to cancer research, especially Pancreatic Cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer took my Grandma Melissa in 2009, and it means the world to me that I was able to do this at such an early stage of the business. Creating this business has allowed me to further extend my impact and my intentions through this company. We look forward to doing more things of this sort in the future.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

In my experience, the hardest thing about being a business owner is the roller coaster of an adventure you embark on. The first few years, in my opinion, are all about building your company's foundation. Success does not just fall in your lap. Instead, the seed of success is planted in your first years. Being able to consistently move forward regardless of the trials and tribulations is very hard but often reaps its rewards if it's done consistently.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, and most importantly, you must be able to make this decision for yourself and block any poorly given criticism. People often find themselves stuck at square one because of their fear of what may happen. Just start with step one and look for more and more ways to keep moving forward.

Secondly, be sure to enjoy what you do. During the hard times, you have to be able to find the good things to look forward to, and if you do not enjoy what you do, then it will be that much easier to quit.

Lastly, I would say to come at the world with the best intentions even when people won't notice. Companies nowadays are judged on their values and their actions in their community. Most business owners find this to be daunting and scary. Instead, look for ways to give back and make a positive impact in your community. This will put you above the competition in so many ways and will lead to great amounts of support.
