Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal care but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Greg Young, Owner of Noblemens Cut and Shave, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Noblemens Cut and Shave is a very successful downtown Fort Lauderdale barbershop. Our customers range from children, young professionals, and county officials all the way to actors, musicians, and pro athletes.

Tell us about yourself

I originally started in the barber industry because I wanted an opportunity to meet different people from all walks of life and have them in my chair every day to pick their brains and build relationships. I am motivated every day by my almost 10 years of sobriety and my beautiful wife and two children. I genuinely love what I do and look forward to coming to work each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been building a platform for myself to launch my non-profit charity, The Backpack Barber Foundation. My foundation reaches out to impact the lives of the homeless and the underprivileged youth in our community. We provide haircuts, hygiene bags, and conversation; one cut at a time.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest thing about being a business owner and entrepreneur is definitely time management. I have a lot going on at all times, plus a family at home, so it's important I keep myself organized and my priorities in check.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

My biggest tip would be to network. I have gotten to where I am by becoming open, vulnerable, and willing to admit I don't know it all. I learn so much about so much through networking, which has definitely led to my success. I would also say work hard! Your potential is limitless, and I truly believe people are capable of so much more than they give themselves credit for. Also, do not be afraid of failure. Failure is as common as success, and as much as it sucks, you can learn so much each time you fail. Don't let people talk to you out of your dreams. Just because someone else couldn't achieve success at something doesn't mean you won't. Reach for the stars and believe in yourself.
