Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Amanda Rausch, Founder of No Stress No Stigma, located in Seattle, WA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
We are a tele-mental health company! We offer therapy, counseling, life coaching, and consulting! We work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages to alleviate symptoms such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, etc., as well as find and fix the root of any issue. Think of this as not only putting on a Band-Aid but also healing the wound! Whatever anyone is going through, we are here to help without any judgment, stress, or stigma! We put an end to waiting in a stark waiting room where you can feel your hands getting clammy and your heart beating fast... this is easy, accessible, no-stress, stigma-free help for whatever you are going through. Feel free to wear your sweatpants, sit on the couch, and have a session on your phone or laptop.
Tell us about yourself
I started my practice in 2013, and it later expanded in 2016 when I hand-picked an amazing team of therapists, associates, and counselors in training to join me on my mission of taking the stress and stigma out of going to counseling. We were doing telehealth before it became the norm! What motivates me each day is seeing people feel better and be able to access care without shame!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
In 2022, our team grew to over 30 providers and we provided over 15,000 tele-mental health sessions to clients in need... oh yeah, and I got pregnant and had my daughter at the same time!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Balance! The balance of running a business vs. trying to save the world! I wish I could offer free mental health services to everyone! We do a lot of pro bono and sliding scale work but also have to balance that with the cost of running a business. Also, the balance of time! I work hard, and I play hard, and it isn't always easy to balance both, especially as a new mom!
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- You CAN do it if you set your mind to it.
- Create a business that solves a problem. I aim to solve the problem of limited access to and the stigma surrounding mental health care.
- Treat your team how you want to be treated! Be loyal to your team, and remember trust is earned, not just given. Be the boss you would want to have!
