Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in hair care, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with James La, the founder of NIUCOCO, a Montreal based hair care product company in Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

We make premium, all-natural, hydrating hair care products inspired by coconut derived ingredients. We saw an opportunity in the industry to create a product driven by general consumer demand. I get excited to see new customers purchasing our products and even more so when we have repeat ones.

James La of NIUCOCO

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating a brand that is now sold in multiple countries. It's humbling to see how just an idea combined with proper research, some proper funding and some elbow grease can give life to your imagination.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Time and energy management. Focus on the important things and not the things that you alone think are important.

What are the top 3 tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

Stay humble and be patient: If you don't have the answer, find out why and then get one. Find and hear the people who have made it and incorporate their steps to success it into your own style of business management. You're never too prepared. It's all a question of timing.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Stay on the cusp of leading trends and learn how to spin. You may have the baseline of a great but incomplete product. Learn to spin that baseline into something that will help you reach your objectives.
