Rest and Find Contentment - Nichole Jones Coaching

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nichole Jones, Founder of Nichole Jones Coaching, located in Longmont, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a life coach. I help stressed-out, high-achieving women slow down and calm down so they can actually relax and enjoy their lives.

Tell us about yourself

I have dedicated myself to helping women thrive by slowing down, learning to rest, and hearing their inner voices. For over a decade, as a mental health counselor, I have helped women and mothers remember themselves, stop worrying, find more patience, and be more present. Now I am doing that as a Holistic Life coach.

I blend a mind-body-spirit with my years of experience and tools gained as a psychotherapist to help you find calm and enjoy your life. I am a self-proclaimed high achiever and chronic over-achiever… in recovery. I have lived most of my life pushing to be better and constantly working to figure out how to be the best in anything I do.

I am a persistent researcher, reader, and seeker. I have two Master’s Degrees, was admitted to a PsyD program when my son was one week old (thank God I declined), multiple certifications, and have read HUNDREDS of books.

My mind spins with ideas, and my body is always moving. I gave myself 100% to my kids and my clients, leaving my emotional and physical health on the back burner. I didn’t know how to say no, care for myself, or REST. Striving and doing was number 1 in my life.

I (still) have a hard time stopping as my mind is filled with 10,000 things that “need” to be done. However, all of my efforts often didn’t feel good enough. I was always just waiting for someone to see through my BS to see who I really am, inept, unworthy, and scared. I ended up with anxiety, insomnia, and intense adrenal fatigue. I also wasn’t actually achieving anything I wanted to achieve or feeling what I wanted to feel from those achievements. I found that no matter how much I sought knowledge, money, and achievement, NOTHING would fill that giant God-shaped hole in my being that said, “I am not lovable or worthy.”

Until I found (after lots of seeking) that “Yes, I am worthy” just because I EXIST and breathe. I am worthy just because I am here, walking around this earth. I have learned boundaries, managing my mind, so it doesn’t run me ragged, the importance of rest, self-kindness, how to be curious about what is happening in my life, forgiveness, taking responsibility, and, BEST of all, learned how to stop and listen to what I really need to feel what I want to feel in my life, plus so much more.

Now, I am motivated to help others who are in the same boat as I was. Unfortunately, our culture pushes for striving, perfectionism, and people-pleasing over personal care and rest. I love helping other women feel more at ease in their minds and bodies while also creating the lives of their dreams.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have successfully started one business as a mental health therapist where most of my referrals come from word of mouth, so my work speaks for itself, and my clients get results.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The ups and downs for sure! The money is rolling in, and then it isn't, which can be so frustrating and scary. The persistence and dedication needed for entrepreneurship are intense.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Be the person who is successful right now. Ask yourself, what will I believe about myself when I hit that goal, and start to believe that about yourself right now. For instance, if you know you will be confident when you achieve your goal, how can you be confident right now?
  2. Pay attention to your mindset and your thoughts. Your thought impacts your feelings which always leads to your results, so be aware of them and do diligent mindset work.
  3. Connect with people who are also entrepreneurs for support and guidance. A good network will get you really far.
