Tell us about yourself
I have a degree in Biochemistry. After working in the lab scene, I got a job at Molson-Coors in Toronto. I enjoyed working in the brewing scene and decided I wanted to go to Niagara College for their brewing program. After the program, I worked in breweries, wineries and cideries, but realized I wanted to start my own venture. I wanted to create a craft brewery focusing on traditional, easy drinking styles, but elevated. This industry attracts the best people in my opinion. My motivation stems from the desire to build a business that can help people.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Our biggest accomplishment as a business is finding our location in Beamsville. Finding a town to set up a brewery that embraces us as a business is key to our success.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
Staying positive through adversity. You'll hear why your business won't be successful, significantly more than why it will be successful. Misery loves company.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1. Be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day.
2. A person's word and a cheque in hand are two very different things.
3. Don't be afraid to fail.
