I am considered a "hybrid" in the business world as I have 30 years of hands-on industry experience as an executive leader for Home Depot, Lowes, Barnes & Noble, PetSmart, Shopko, Toys R Us, Publix, and Festival Foods, as well as over 17 years experience as a Retail Research Analyst. I have conducted over 1000 consultations and engagements with clients on Wall Street, Hedge Fund Managers, Equity Investment Partners, retailers (niche players to Big Box), business owners, and entrepreneurs in the retail sector throughout my career. I am passionate about sharing my massive retail experience, knowledge, and wisdom with others. There comes a moment in your life when you intuitively sense a higher calling that you are guided to embrace. The universe kept revealing to me that I was meant to start a new venture that would provide additional growth opportunities. This epiphany led to the founding of my company, New Retail Ethos. What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As the Founder & CEO, I set the tone for the entire company. "A fish stinks from the head down" is a mantra that I always keep in the front of my mind. When I lead with exemplary character, sterling integrity, honesty, and transparency, I am consciously creating the culture of our company which provides a blueprint for the employees and leaders to easily follow. I have found that even during tumultuous periods, there are incredible opportunities for growth. I choose to perceive things through the periscope of opportunities to excel, succeed, learn, and ascend. As a servant leader, communication, empathy, kindness, engagement, and connectedness are the five anchors which encompass my leadership style. I genuinely care about the people who work with me, and I will always treat them like family.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Ask yourself IF you genuinely care about people. This one answer will determine and dictate your trajectory and happiness. Not everyone can be a true Servant Leader that truly desires to help people grow, ascend, and achieve their aspirations. As a Founder & CEO, I am responsible for every employee and their ability to provide for themselves and their family. I feel privileged and honored to be a leader, and I treat my authority with respect and reverence.
- What is your intention for starting a business? If your ONLY intention is to make more money, you will be extremely disappointed in the long term. I would emphatically suggest that each person FOCUS on providing a service or product that will enhance people's lives. When your intention is to help others, you are creating positive energy that will buoy you along on your entrepreneurial journey. Ensure that your intentions, thoughts, words, and actions are perfectly aligned and congruent with making the world a better place. From this place of altruism, you are establishing a strong foundation built upon passion, empathy, and kindness. I created an acronym to keep me centered and grounded called S.A.G.E.
- I created an acronym called G.A.P. which has had tremendous success with tapping into 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬' 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and will massively increase retention, employee satisfaction, and productivity.
