What's your business, and who are your customers?
Navigations Parenting is a parent education company specializing in online courses, coaching services, and live workshops for businesses, schools, and childcare centers. We are focused on supporting all parents and on the journey of raising their children.
Tell us about yourself
Leah holds degrees in Psychology and Communications from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. After starting a career in corporate training, she spent five years at home with her two children before enrolling in the University of Minnesota to obtain her Master’s degree in Parent and Family Education.
Over seven years ago, Leah entered the world of parent education as an Early Childhood Family Education teacher. There she saw first-hand that healthy families start with healthy parents. Leah brings that same “whole-family” approach to her work at Navigations Parenting, helping families recognize their unique strengths and use them to improve their family life.
Patrice holds Master’s degrees in Parent and Family Education as well as Teaching and Learning. With more than 12 years of experience in education — most recently in Early Childhood Family Education —Patrice understands that being real about parenting struggles is the first step toward finding real solutions. She uses that lens to help families at Navigations Parenting craft their own stories.
Being a mom to four has solidified Patrice’s belief that there is no one “perfect” way to parent. What works for one child one day may not work for another. Patrice is passionate about connecting with families in an authentic way to help parents find the path that works for them and their families.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Honestly, getting our business off the ground and running has been a huge accomplishment for Navigations Parenting. We are both parents, have part-time jobs through our local school district, and run Navigations Parenting. Making it all happen is a huge accomplishment.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
One of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner is finding the time to make all of our hopes and dreams for Navigations Parenting come alive.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Find mentors you respect and find motivating.
- Create a network of supportive people and businesses that believe in your mission.
- Put in the time and hard work, and be patient.
