What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Massage, Shock Wave Therapy, PEMP therapy, nutrition, and cleansing as I listen to and nurture my clients. We usually work to restore balance and reduce pain in the body first; clients often share things that stress them. I pray as my intuitive hands find areas of connective tissue/ energetic blockage. Rapid restoration is the outcome I seek for my clients, and I draw upon thirty plus years of health-seeking and personal implementation, which I share with my clients who often suffer from chronic pain, and trauma and are empathic/spiritual seekers + Christ Followers who want a therapist on the same spiritual page. I employ low technology to high technology and share my knowledge base freely.

Tell us about yourself

Massage was my calling from 9 years old. I massage my Grandma and would even massage my teacher at their desk (which they allowed!) I craved to use my hands and touch people; they felt better, and I felt better. Very early, with a boss mentality, I took the leap to place an ad and work for myself at twenty. I relied on natural gifting, exercised my intuition, and put my heart into my sessions which my clients greatly appreciated. I love people and their individuality/soul, and I love to nurture my clients the way I desire to be nurtured as a client. My life history has been extremely challenging, which has helped me to become more compassionate. I desire to share love through my efforts, services, and products. To relieve some of the suffering people live with is rewarding, and the personal relationships bless my life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I was considered one of the top mobile therapists within Marriott Hotel, Vancouver, B.C., something I'm proud of. I was called upon to treat VIPs and NHL and massaged Mr. Marriott himself, who said, 'that may have been the best massage I ever had.' An honor to be trusted with their important people.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As a sole business owner and former single, maintaining balance in every area of life simultaneously is a challenge. For me, that means being proactive with health and scheduling time to rest and renew so I can enjoy my work and have the energy to play! Allowing myself to live exhausted or with emotional or physical pain is unwise.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. We EACH have that unique something that can fill a need or desire in the marketplace, be brave and share your passion.
  2. Treat your clients like you'd like to be treated like they're your neighbor, even if they may be foreigners you never see again.
  3. Excellence in products and service is quite rare - if you can provide excellence and positive energy together, your integrity will make room for you in your chosen field of business!!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

There is power in thank you. A physical card, gift card, or small gift of appreciation separates you from those who don't express appreciation clearly. Giving a more generous commission where appropriate can open doors of opportunity. It can be challenging to maintain a can-do attitude and remain willing to go above and beyond. The greatest among us is the servant of all... A humble attitude and a strong work ethic can overcome many obstacles!!
