Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Nanette Polito, Owner of Nanette Polito, Success Coach, located in Hebron, KY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Success Coaching/Consulting for both business and life. My clients are solo entrepreneurs, commission business people, and real estate/mortgage teams that want to grow their business through their sales, accountabilities, and new ideas.

Tell us about yourself

In every career I have had, my main goal was to help the people around me, those who worked for me, and my colleagues to succeed in whatever they wanted. It was because there was a time when someone helped me understand what success felt like.

In 2014 I was given the opportunity to become a trainer, coach, and consultant, and I took it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is helping business people understand 'Why' they are doing what they are doing. Then use that information to develop the correct marketing, using the proper verbiage to help draw in the right client for them. So many have changed their mindset because of this and to watch them grow is just amazing!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it is all the paperwork and technical things that need to be done in the background. My strength is when I am working with my clients. When you are a solo entrepreneur like me, I do it all, the books, marketing, development, and everything needed to run the business. That can weigh me down.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, have a passion for what you will do in that business.

Second, be ready to work the hardest you have ever worked.

Third, give yourself some grace when things don't go right and ask for help when you need it. There is always someone who wants to help.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Running your own business can be so satisfying and challenging at the same time. Don't give up! Believe in yourself and what you are doing. When times are tough, reach out because another business person has already paved that path and can help you.

There is no shame in asking for help! Whatever you choose to do in business, you will touch other lives, and there is nothing better than that!
