Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christine Simpson, founder of MyoStone Massage Therapy, located in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I’m an RMT who started MyoStone Massage Therapy in November 2020, just before the third lockdown. I truly love what I do, and I strive to give the best to my clients by continuing education and working closely with other health care practitioners.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a single mom whose passionate about helping others feel their best and heal mentally, physically, and spiritually. I believe healing comes in many forms, and MyoStone “Myo” meaning muscle and stone, can have many healing properties in the forms of hot stone massage and healing crystals.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is having built a fully booked practice from nothing in the middle of the pandemic!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing that comes with being a business owner is learning how to balance being a mom, a partner, and a friend. I’ve missed out on a lot of building my business, but short-term sacrifices come with long-term gain. Learning to say no and have boundaries, and keeping up with that self-care routine has been a struggle as well. It can also be very frustrating as many don’t understand that I have to work so hard and that I hold many roles as a business owner. My work doesn’t end at work; it continues at home into other roles such as social media manager, accountant, cleaner, reception, etc.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start even if you’re not ready.
  2. Surround yourself with like-minded people - this is HUGE.
  3. Being a positive human and building genuine relationships with others.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone.
