Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christina Dober, Founder of My Heartspace Journey, located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
When I first started my business, I was teaching classic yoga flow and practicing yoga therapy in my beautiful outdoor yoga deck. However, as time went by, I saw that most of my clients were really soul searching and looking for peace and joy in their lives. So I shifted my business to better serve my clients by teaching them about yogic healing practices, reiki healing, meditation, how to use mantras and breathwork to activate their energetic body, and how to understand their own Jyotish (Classic Indian Style) Astrological Birth Charts. These days, I am primarily holding soul retreats for people who are looking to tune into their soul space, discover profound self-love, and live their highest vibrational life.
Tell us about yourself
I first started my own soul searching journey after a good friend of mine passed away. My first real soul experience was during a reiki session, where I discovered my energetic body and was blown away by this realization that "I" was more than my physical body and mind. Since then, I went on to become a Yoga Teacher, Master Reiki Healer, and Jyotish Birth Chart Reader. I love my work so much and witnessing people find joy and peace in their lives that I even quit my other job as an Air Force Contracts Consultant!
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My greatest accomplishment is believing in myself enough to leave my high-paying job as a consultant to work on helping people full-time. Every time I am brave enough to take a leap of faith in myself and my business, it is cause for celebration!
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
It can be difficult not to have the security of a salaried job, especially because you have to dive into the greatest trust, surrender, and belief in yourself. I am constantly re-evaluating and surrendering my ego attachments to various things like a steady income, clients that don't quite mesh with me, and projects that don't work out as well as I wanted them to. However, this has also provided a wonderful opportunity to transcend my greatest fears, and I am forever grateful for it.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- If you don't have a lot of business experience, it's a great idea to invest in a business coach that aligns with your ideals. My business started taking off after I took a leap to find and hire a great business coach.
- Be patient and make sure you have daily practice to ground and set intentions. I personally meditate daily, and it provides me with the perfect inspiration on where to take my business and also helps in conquering my fears and limitations surrounding my business.
- Don't be afraid to take a break and enjoy time with other hobbies or people you love. That break can be the best thing you do to get inspired.
