Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kendle Celeste, Founder of Mustard Shower Evolution, located in Lakewood, CO, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Mustard Shower Evolution is on a mission to cultivate self-love and dismantle self-limiting beliefs through the unique services of Reiki Infused Conscious Breathwork, Power of Breath Workshops, and Intuitively Guided Energy Movement. I aim to provide support to all beings who feel called to do this work - animals included!

I am also a co-host of "No Offense, And", a podcast aimed at cultivating self-love and collective liberation.

Tell us about yourself

I exist at the intersection of privileges as a cis-gendered, neuro-typical, able-bodied, thin-bodied, financially stable, college-educated white-bodied woman. With my moon in Capricorn and being designed to bump into life, the journey of learning to love myself is an arduous road. Since the age of 11, the voices rooted in self-hatred, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, unworthiness, perfectionism, shame, and abandonment have been loud and present. I am on the journey of creating space from those voices, breaking toxic patterns and conditionings, and learning to love myself unconditionally. I feel immensely privileged for the access I have to cultivate self-love, therapy, and energy work, and I believe it is my duty to make self-love accessible as it is a human right to know the invaluable tools available to us through our breath and bodies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Each step feels to be a massive accomplishment! From getting my website up and running to creating business cards to having my first session with a client. I feel so giddy and grateful for each step, as previous versions of me had no idea this was possible!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Believing in self!! I am absolutely my biggest obstacle, and getting out of my own way takes awareness, patience, and compassion. I also find it hard to allow myself to stop working as there always seems to be another task, so I have to remind myself, "I have time"!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Create a support system. Other entrepreneurs in your area, friends, people on a Facebook group - there is a plethora of networks of people who have created their own business or are starting one and want to provide guidance and a shoulder to lean on. It takes a village!
  2. Prioritize time for yourself each day. If it's 20 minutes in the morning, 2 hours in the evening, 5 minutes midday, or all of the above, taking time to give yourself love, breathe, cook a meal, drink water, and put your feet in the earth will come back to you tenfold.
  3. Remember your why. There are going to be hard days, disappointing weeks, and tough moments that will challenge you, make you doubt yourself, and question everything. This is incredibly natural and common. Remembering why you began in the first place, taking a step back to look at all you have accomplished (trust me, it's a lot!!), and leaning on your support network will help you to create space from the funk and regain the higher perspective.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Imposter syndrome is something to celebrate! It is a sign you care deeply and are growing. So dance, sing, jump, give yourself a high-five when you feel it - perspective is everything!!
