Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Massimo Terracciano, Founder of Mr Salus Sporting Lab, located in London, United Kingdom.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is about sports therapy and running analysis with high-tech equipment. My company is both a Sports Clinic and Gait Analysis Lab. We have a wide range of sports therapies such as sports massage, back pain treatment, injury rehabilitation treatment, pre-post hip surgery treatments, and many others.

Our Gait Analysis Services range from postural assessment to running assessment, walking rehabilitation, foot pressure scan, and many others. Our clients are very variegated, from professional athletes with sports injuries to sedentary people with desk jobs-related issues.

Tell us about yourself

I started my profession soon after I got my degree in sports rehabilitation when I was 24 years old. I opened my first own Sports Clinic in Naples in 2011. After 5 years, despite the business was not bad, I decided to move to another country and continue my business project in the UK.

I started my Sports Clinic in London in 2018. Despite up and down due to the pandemic for Covid-19, I am still working to grow my business by hiring and teaching new therapists. The many projects I am working on and the aim to innovate the sports injury rehabilitation field keep me motivated every day to still work hard despite the many difficulties we are facing in this period of crisis.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner has been the reward I have received from some platforms and websites that have featured my sports clinic on their app or article as the best Sports Massage Clinic in central London. I think that this accomplishment would be only the first of a long series of other ones!

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

I think the hardest thing for a business owner is the management of the employees or partners.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't start the business by yourself if you can. Find a partner or an investor that shares your ideas and/or business model.
  2. Delegate the tasks you are not good at to some trusted professional.
  3. Keep pace with the new technologies and market evolution to forecast customer needs and trends.
