Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness for kids, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Moira Sullivan, owner at Whole Kids Therapy, Inc. in San Jose, California, USA.

Tell us all about your business...

We are a pediatric occupational therapy center partnering with families to build their child's motor coordination, sensory processing, and social interaction skills. Our goal is to help children lead fulfilling, happy lives filled with strong positive relationships.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a solopreneur?

I began working with children ages 0 to 3 years, and it was exciting to see them grow and gain the skills they need to navigate the world. I'm fortunate to have kept in touch with several clients who are doing great, which is exciting to see. Partnering with parents supports the entire family and reinforces the positive bonds between them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Putting together a strong team that works well together.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a solopreneur?

Getting to the point of expansion of business and services. There are so many variables involved; We intend to expand our team to include speech therapists and mental health professionals.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

Know who your referral sources are. Know what you are good at and what you don't enjoy, delegate the latter. Talk with other business owners who have the same or similar business to see what wisdom they have to impart. It may be that the conversation will give you an idea of what to do and what not to do.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Be sure to bring your personality to your business. Let it reflect your values and those of your team.
